The Journey

After more than a decade of pioneering low-impact forestry and sustainable living in Estonia, I've developed a unique perspective on what it takes to build resilient systems that bridge the digital and natural worlds.

Working remotely since 1998, I've built brands, platforms, and physical spaces while being deeply rooted in the forests of southwest Estland since 2013 — crafting new ways to live, build, and connect with nature.

I’m a founder and builder.

I’ve worked remotely since 1998. Back then that mostly meant people assumed you were unemployed. I built brands, products, communities, weird internet things before the internet became normal.

Some worked. Most taught me something.

In 2013, my wife and I moved to a forgotten village in southwest Estonia. We bought land. Started building a homestead. Had two boys.

Then I spent nearly a decade failing in public at things I had no business doing yet.

Pouring foundations. Managing builders in a language I barely spoke. Getting cars swallowed by spring mud. Paying city-level taxes while driving 40 minutes for basic things.

The logical move was to quit and go back to Australia.

We stayed.

What I’m Building Now

Estland — the infrastructure nobody built

Rural Estonia is full of people already doing the work.

Farmers. Sawmills. Bakers. Guesthouses. Craftspeople. Local associations. The problem is not that nothing exists.

The problem is that nobody can see it.

So I’m building the connective tissue. Three things:

Fresh food loops — Daily supply between local producers and local buyers. Her greenhouse vegetables. His farm lamb. The village bakery’s bread. Repeat customers. Repeat income. Simple.

ALGE lumber exchange — B2B matching for sawmills, builders, logs, lumber, firewood. Price, specs, delivery. No middlemen pretending to add value.

Hei Estland — A visitor map and quality layer for the businesses that should be found first. Places to stay. Places to eat. Things worth turning off the highway for.

The target

EUR 5M more circulating locally in Haademeeste.

That’s it.

Not because money is everything. Because if the money always leaves, the kids eventually do too.

The Larger Vision

Three layers:

hdm.ee is the proving ground. Live now.

estland.app is the national local layer.

heiestland.com is the tourism shelf. The money that currently bleeds to Booking.com, chain petrol stations, and foreign platforms should have a local door to walk through first.

The real frontier is not technology.

It’s whether a good rural life can actually sustain itself.
